Over the time people have really got dependent on technology, mobile phones, and social media. According to the Pew Research Center, 65% of American adults use social networking websites, comparing to 7% in 2005 when their research began.
Photographer Eric Pickersgill decided to show how disconnected, instead of connected we’ve actually become by removing phones from his photos, and released these powerful photo series titled “Removed”.
Pickersgill came up with this idea after a brief encounter in a New York cafe. “Family sitting next to me at Illium café in Troy, NY is so disconnected from one another,” Pickersgill says. “Not much talking. Father and two daughters have their own phones out. Mom doesn’t have one or chooses to leave it put away. She stares out the window, sad and alone in the company of her closest family. Dad looks up every so often to announce some obscure piece of info he found online.”
